Thad and I use Camtasia to create our videos but at $299 it may be beyond the reach of many.
Until recently you could get Camtasia 3 for free. Well, that offer has now been withdrawn so here’s an alternative FREE program:-
I’ve only had a quick play with it a while back but it seems to do the job and saves your recordings as .avi files. Then just upload them to YouTube and add them to your blog or site.
Note: You will need a mic to record sound but you can get those real cheap. Chances are you have one already. If so great!
Have a play with it, video reviews are really, really powerful.

Yep, give it a whirl. I have only tested recording the screen with it and did not actually upload anything. You can ONLY record the screen BTW…so you can’t do ‘you on camera’ type vids but that also means you don’t need a webcam…just a mic.
It creates .avi files which aren’t the best quality but they are acceptable to YouTube. Just remember for YouTube a video must be no longer than 10 minutes and 1 GB file size.
