Cause in my dreams it’s always there…

Twitter Breaking News!

No, not breaking news on Twitter but Twitter on breaking news, follow?

OK… maybe not. Bare with me…

You will have noticed that we’ve added a Business News page on the blog. From there you can access the major breaking news stories from around the world as they happen. Pretty cool, right? It’s more important than ever now to keep up to date as the big ‘D‘ approaches. OK, but get this…

I’ve also been Tweeting about some of the more interesting headlines as they appear and linking the Tweet back to the relevant ANC Blog page containing the headline (rather than the newspaper article itself).

If you’re already on Twitter and following me you may have noticed this. Here’s my Twit bit link:-

https://twitter.com/davidrbrown

And my Tweets automatically feed though to my Facebook thing here:-

http://www.facebook.com/people/David-Brown

Dead clever, right? Dead easy!!

The result… more traffic (a lot more)… more sign ups to our list…

MORE NEW MEMBERS!!

Now, Thad’s given me a bit of a slap on this… he thinks it comes across a bit ’showy’ a bit brash. OK… big headed!! (See, I also sent this out as mail to our list… so you may have seen it already.)

Well, that was not the point of the mail or this post at all…

It’s all about engaging with your audience, whether that be on Twitter or Facebook, in a forum of wherever. Get involved with people… show them you are a real person… that you care about what’s going on out there…

So, get on Twitter and get Tweeting and start engaging with your audience.

PS. Chuck in some links to rock vids from YouTube as well… they always go down a storm. LOL!

This one is particularly appropriate at the moment:-

Top Affiliate Marketing Guides! No Guru Crap!

OK Guys,

We’ve decided we don’t want to clutter up the blog with any kind of promotions and stuff like that. The Blog is for cool tips and breaking news only, right?

But we do recommend some products over on the right under the ‘Recommended Products’ section… so we thought we’d better tell you why we recommend them and why we use them.

These are the ONLY guides we use and we recommend.

So we’ve created a separate Reviews Page which you can access from the main menu. Feel free to check ‘em out!

This is a really cool fun tool. And it’s free!

We all want more visitors to our sites, right? Repeat visitors are even better.

Well a small start up company called Heyzap.com has launched a service that lets businesses and bloggers use games to attract and more importantly, keep customers coming back to their websites.

See below…

heyzap.com – embed games

Tip: Click on Play Now and then ‘Next Game’ if you don’t fancy playing the one that loads first and also to see the full menu of games.

Large companies like Toyota have latched on to the popularity of free gaming as have Lynx… so can you!

Now, I’ve just started playing with this but apparently you can embed any game from their library into your site. They host the game but the user plays it on your site.

It’s pretty cool and fun! Find a game that fits your niche and away you go.

(I’ll never get any work done now. LOL!)

PS. Heyzap even have stats so you can see how many times your games are played. Neat!

Promoting the Magic of Making Up?

LOL!

If you are promoting the ‘Magic of Making Up‘ (by TDub… alias you know who) stick this on your blog, lens or site…

Went to a ‘rock concert’ last night. My nephew was playing the drums to that very song. He’s only 11 and I’ll tell you what. I’m gonna get him to sign the ticket and I’ll get a set of drum sticks off him.

Awesome!!

Diversify In A Depression?

OK, they are trying every trick in the book at the moment to fool us into thinking things aren’t as bad as they really are. They are going out of their way to avoid the ‘D’ word.

But we ALL know what’s coming right? And at ANC we are doing everything we can to help point you into those recession proof areas. (Oops! Even I daren’t use the the ‘D’ word now. LOL!)

Anyway, spotted an interesting article in the UK’s Daily Telegraph Business section a couple of days back. I’ve copied it below (I hope they don’t mind.):-

Businesses fail to grasp website search opportunities

Almost one in five small businesses remain invisible to their customers on the internet despite significant progress in the use of websites in the last three years, a poll suggests.

Fasthosts Internet, a website hosting company which conducted the research, said the percentage of business sites that are invisible to search engines like Yahoo and Google has improved from 49pc in 2006 to 17pc this year.

But the company found that one in three firms had not done anything to make their websites attractive to search engines, which would improve their chances of appearing near the top of a search query by a potential customer.

Many felt unable to try to do it themselves and believed hiring out help would be too costly.

Despite this, more than two thirds of the 400 small firms polled said that they thought consumers did rely on search results to find online retailers.

Steve Holford, Fasthosts’ marketing officer, said: “No business today can afford to neglect its position within search engines. In learning the basics of how internet search works, a business owner will appreciate what a powerful impact it can make on their sales function.”

Richard Tyler (That’s a direct link to the article.)

Mmmmm… makes you think doesn’t it?

As Affiliate Marketers (even if you haven’t been in the game for very long) I guarantee that YOU know way more than the average small business person on how to get listed, and listed on the front page, of Google and Yahoo.

So, there’s an opportunity here. The last thing any business should be doing at the moment is cutting back on marketing (although some may require convincing) so why not check out some local businesses in your area. Have they even got a website? How well is it optimised? Would a PPC or article campaign help them? What about some Social Marketing (Twitter, Facebook, etc)?

Could YOU help them?

OK, it’s not affiliate marketing but it’s another potential income stream. Think about it… I know I am and I know Thad has recently done some (paid) PPC work for a friend of his.

You may need to knock on doors… you may need to do a couple for free to build up a reputation… get some credibility… get testimonials…

Worth a try? I think so!

Travis Sago (BumMarketingMethod) has often been asked in the Wealthy Affiliate forum what he would do if he was starting out again / needed some quick cash / Google delevered an almighty big slap / etc. And the above is pretty much always his answer.

Like I said… think about it…

PS. There’s a great cartoon in the Telegraph as well by Alex… here’s a sample:-
