Websites Personified!

LOL! Just spotted this on Twitter

What if websites were people:-

websites as people

That’s Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Wikipedia, Deviant Art, You Tube, Google.

Well, they’ve certainly got the grim Google boffin right! But what about Twitter? Kids and Teens don’t do Twitter. The Wikipedia dude looks spookily like my youngest son, Nick!

Finding People To Follow On Twitter

Ho Hum… well you know I’m not keen on all this follow thousands on Twitter to get thousands to follow you, right?

Seems pretty pointless to me.

Anyway, I’ve just set up a Twitter account for one of our non-IM niches.

I’m not going to show you it or anything just yet but I’m gonna use this account to test whether Twitter has any real marketing value or not.

Create A Customised Background For Twitter

Hey, I’ve been getting a bit fed up with my Grim image. (You know… the Reaper fella.)

He’s fine for the Reaper lenses but as some of you may have noticed I’ve been putting back my own happy smiley face back up on forums, etc.

Well, I wanted to do the same thing on Twitter. Sure, it’s easy to change my pic on there but I also wanted to change the background and have that be a bit more personal.

Tweet Later and put your feet up!

I read a headline in the paper this morning about how a child born today would be 23 (That’s TWENTY THREE) before the current UK debt will be paid off!!

And that’s being highly optimistic IMO.

Got me thinking… a dangerous thing I know. So, I thought I’d put up a series of Tweets today about what it meant if you were 20 in 1940, 1950, 1960 etc.

I’m having great larks over at Twitter

I started out just trying to get people back to my sites and lenses and stuff. But everyone and his dog are doing that!

It’s as dull as dishwater!

Don’t auto follow people… only those with a genuine shared interest. It don’t matter what it is.

Twitter is cool but you only get 140 characters for each Tweet, so you have to brief.

That’s not as hard as you think. Short sharp and to the point messages are usually the best anyway.

But, as often as not, we as IMers want to include a link in our tweets back to our sites, blogs or even the merchant (although I wouldn’t recommend you include affiliate links – just too ‘hard sell’ for Twitter).

Use Twinfluence.com to find out how much influence YOU have in the Twitter Community.

I’ve got over 3 million ‘second order’ followers with a high social influence but a fragile centralization. I’m sure this is gonna make me $millions. I don’t like centralization so I don’t care about that one.

Check out your influenza score now! Smoking hot or have you caught a cold?

Twitter Grader – How Do You Rate?

Use TwitteGrader.com to find out how YOU rate in the Twitter Community.

Check out who’s top of the Twitter Elite tree in your location.

Who’s the Tops where I am? I’ll give you three guesses…

Twitter Elite – Middlesbrough

LOL!

(And I didn’t cheat, honest!)

Twitter Breaking News!

No, not breaking news on Twitter but Twitter on breaking news, follow?

OK… maybe not. Bare with me…

You will have noticed that we’ve added a Business News page on the blog. From there you can access the major breaking news stories from around the world as they happen. Pretty cool, right? It’s more important than ever now to keep up to date as the big ‘D‘ approaches. OK, but get this…

Twitter – An Alternative View

OK, It’s still early days in my experimenting with Twitter and at the moment I am targeting the IM crowd.

There is a (mostly) general consensus that the more followers you have the better to spread your message.
